Established in 1991, Frattini has become an iconic institution in Leichhardt amongst locals and foreigners alike.


When both Frattini and Leichhardt are put in the same sentence, it can’t be mistaken that the next word that pops up is Tony Sama, and his family. From day one, Tony created a restaurant that provides authentic Italian cusine with character and a warm family touch.


Immigrating to Australia from a small town in Calabria, Southern Italy at a tender age of 17, Tony has always been surrounded by quality. At the age of 19, Tony found his calling. Becoming Head Barman at the old APIA Club, situated on the bay in Lilyfield. A club that symbolized elegance, professionalism  and excellence.


Tony brought the traits that he had absorbed from his time at the APIA Club, plus the concepts of his southern Italian culture of heart filled, genuine, fresh food, to Frattini Restaurant.

Frattini Italian Kitchen has evolved to an amazing family run business that continues to put smiles on customers faces. Tony is proud to have three sons, that have grown up in the business and whom continue to preserve the identity that is “Frattini”. With the inclusion of Tony’s wife in the kitchen, and the amazing staff that is family, Frattini is a recipe for a remarkable and pleasurable dining experience.
